Open Data Week runs from March 7–13, 2026, and all week long we’ll be spotlighting different ways you can explore, learn about, and engage with open data at the City of Toronto.
Here’s what we’re focused on each day.
Monday
March 9

Explore Open Data: Play our treasure-hunt puzzle!
We’re inviting everyone to dive into Toronto’s open data catalogue through an interactive treasure‑hunt–style challenge. It’s a hands‑on way to discover datasets. Stay tuned for the post & clues.
Tuesday
March 10

Open Data In Action: See the in-person project showcase
Featuring projects made by the people, for the people. Come in-person to see LIVE gallery projects and speak to the Open Data Team.
Where: Metro Hall Rotunda Gallery
Time: 9AM to 5PM
Civic Tech TO break out session
Join us in the evening at Civic Tech TO. We’ll have an in-person open forum during the breakout session, and you can also check out some awesome projects, many of which use open data. Register for free here.
Where: Room 380, Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship (55 St. George St.)
Time: 7PM to 9PM
Lunch and learn: Open Data 101
Internal staff ONLY: Check your Week Ahead Newsletter!
This session offers a practical overview of open data at the City, the public value it creates, and what City employees should know about enabling open data safely and effectively.

Our Open Data Story: Learn about our history!
We’ll take a step back and share the history of open data at the City of Toronto: how it started, how it’s evolved, and why it continues to matter for transparency, innovation, and public trust. Come back to this section of the blog to read about it.
Thursday
March 12

Ask us Anything
We’re opening the door to questions and discussion with a live Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit r/Toronto, giving the public a chance to connect directly and learn more about open data at the City. Stay tuned for more details.

Open Data Beyond Toronto
To wrap up the week, we’ll highlight the winners of the treasure hunt-style challenge, cross promote some awesome work happening around the world with Open Data Week….Stay tuned for so much action!
